Melissa McLaughlin
Homeroom Teacher / School Administrator
Mrs. McLaughlin joined the SMYS team of teachers in September 2019. She teaches Social Studies and Visual Art to grades 4 - 6 and Geography to grades 7 and 8. She also hosts an Arts and Crafts class for students in Kindergarten to Grade 6.
Mrs. McLaughlin has lived and taught all over the world. She met Mr. McLaughlin when she began her career teaching English in South Korea at a public high school. She then went on to teach Language Arts to grades 7-12 in Libya at an international school, before moving to Czech Republic for three years. In Europe, Melissa taught at the International School of Brno - Art, History, Geography, and Language Arts - for the middle and high school grades. Mrs. McLaughlin and her husband then moved to British Columbia for two years and taught a Grade 4 class at a private school, before moving to Stratford, Ontario.
Mrs. McLaughlin grew up about an hour away from Stratford, in Milton Ontario. She has a sister and a twin brother, along with three nieces and one nephew. Mrs. McLaughlin has three sons and a dog. Her passions include visual arts, relaxing with her family, reading, and spending time outdoors.
